Our wood finishing techniques include:

French polishing

Using traditional long standing methods, we can reproduce an authentic original finish. By applying shellac using mops and rubbers we can build up to a full mirror finish if required.

Wax polishing

We can build up a waxed polish finish to reproduce a authentic patina to match 18th and 19th Century furniture.

Colour balancing

We use the chemicals, pigments and minerals of the period to match the original colours to the furniture being restored.

Wood simulation

We use this traditional skill to match new extensions to existing timber in table tops.

Ring marks

We are frequently called upon to remove white ring marks from surface finishes.

Professional spray lacquering

For retro and modern furniture we are able to replicate the original finish by spray lacquering a durable finish in different sheens from 5% matt to 90% gloss.
